Verify a receipt

A receipt is only worth something if the party who did not issue it can check it. This page recomputes the custody chain from scratch and reports whether the published head still matches.

Digests are computed in your browser with Web Crypto over a canonicalized form of each event, so key ordering cannot change the result. This is the real mechanism, not a mock-up of one.

What this does and does not establish
Establishes
  • · The log has not been edited since the head was published.
  • · Events are in their original order.
  • · No event has been inserted or removed.
  • · All three parties are reading the same record.
Does not establish
  • · That the scale was reading truthfully.
  • · That the grade call was correct.
  • · That the photos depict this load.
  • · Anything at all, if the head was never shared with a counterparty at the time of issue.

Integrity of a record and truth of a measurement are different properties. The chain carries the first. The NTEP legal-for-trade credential, the licensed weighmaster and the photo evidence carry the second — which is why the trust tier on a receipt grades the measurement, not the hash.
